New Smart Security Breach Reporting System to boost Dubai’s aviation safety
Initiative aligns with D33 vision to make Dubai world’s safest city
DUBAI has unveiled a powerful new layer of defence for its skies.
Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Border Security Council, has launched the Smart Security Breach Reporting System, developed by the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority (DCAA) in partnership with Dubai Police and Dubai Customs.
The new platform is part of a broad push to enhance the sustainability of Dubai’s aviation security ecosystem and streamline coordination among key government agencies. It directly supports the goals of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, which aims to strengthen Dubai’s standing as one of the world’s safest, smartest, and most advanced cities.
Sheikh Mansoor said that advancing aviation security remains central to Dubai’s global competitiveness, highlighting that the adoption of intelligent systems allows government entities to anticipate challenges, ensure seamless operations, and maintain Dubai’s leadership in safety and innovation.
What does the new system offer?
The Smart Security Breach Reporting System marks a major step forward in aviation security. Designed as an integrated digital platform, it enables real-time monitoring, swift incident reporting, and seamless coordination between all relevant authorities. By connecting Dubai Police, Dubai Customs, and the DCAA, the system ensures faster, unified responses to potential threats.
The DCAA explained that the platform enhances predictive analysis, allowing authorities to spot early warning signs and act pre-emptively. It represents a new level of institutional synergy where data-driven insights guide proactive security measures – reinforcing Dubai’s reputation for governance excellence and operational integration.
How does it support growing air traffic?
With aviation activity in Dubai continuing to surge, the new system arrives at a critical moment. Dubai International Airport recorded a 2.3% increase in passenger traffic in the first half of 2025, reaching 46 million passengers – its busiest first half on record. The airport also handled over 1 million tonnes of cargo during the same period.
In 2024, Dubai International Airport welcomed 92.3 million passengers, surpassing its 2018 record of 89.1 million and retaining its Airports Council International title as the world’s busiest international airport for the 10th consecutive year. It also processed 2.88 million tonnes of cargo that year.
At the same time, Al Maktoum International Airport is undergoing a Dh128 billion expansion, positioning it to become the world’s largest airport. Once completed, it will be able to handle up to 260 million passengers and 12 million tonnes of cargo annually, setting a new global benchmark for capacity.
